Marissa has never needed a special ops agent... until now. After accidentally tangling with a drug dealer, she's desperate for protection. And the only guy she knows who's trained in this sort of thing is Archer Brant--the man she left because his job is too dangerous. Yeah. Kind of funny that she's now the one in a heap of danger. But the fact is, she trusts Archer with her life. Tucked away in his remote cabin, it's easy to remember why they once were so good together. Even with the threat lurking, Marissa longs to rekindle the romantic sparks between them. Being with Archer this way, she sees a different side of him. Sees more than the job. Sees the man who could give her the loving future she wants.
To start out with, "Trusting the Bodyguard" is edgier and more graphic than the typical Harlequin Super Romance novel I pick up to read. However, I have yet to be disappointed in any of Kimberly Van Meter's novels, and this romantic suspense is no exception. The author spins a story that sucks you right in and I had a very difficult time putting the book down. Right from the first page, I found myself set up in a very action-pack, exhilaratingly suspenseful novel where the heroine goes to the only person she trusts to protect her and her baby niece - her ex-fiancé she left three years ago. The emotions between the two characters are very real as each wonders if they are going to be able to get themselves out of this situation and if there is a second chance at love for them. The book comes highly recommended.
