Trust Me

Being a devoted Amanda Quick fan, I've decided to look up all her many incarnations. I decided on _Trust Me_ as my first foray into her titles written as Jayne Ann Krentz and was well pleased with the selection. The characters in this book are amazing -- every single one of them! Desdemona is one of the best romantic heroines I've seen. She is sharp, witty and has just enough edge to make her real. Sam is the perfect counterpart to Desdemona. He is brilliant yet so unsure of himself. He needs love and it is touching to watch Desdemona take him in and teach him about real trust and the true meaning of love and family. He also has the most irresistible tendency to just blurt out exactly what he's thinking. His forthrightness is sexy and refreshing. These two have such explosive chemistry and such witty banter that the pages fly by and soon you're at the end of the book before you've even realized it has begun. Not only are the main characters remarkable, the secondary characters are great! Desdemona's family -- theater people who are all named after characters in Shakespeare's plays -- are hilarious, charming and endearing. Also, Sam's brothers are cute and early on give you insight to the underlying aspects of Sam's personality. There is a mystery that comes into play mid-way through the book that drives the plot and expounds upon Desdemona's and Sam's relationship. More than anything though, the driving force of this book is the romance between Desdemona and Sam. Their's is a tender, turbulent love that warms the heart. _Trust Me_, my first by Jayne Ann Krentz, will certainly not be my last. It is evident that under whatever pseudonym, Krentz or Quick, this lady has talent. I highly recommend this to anyone who has enjoyed work by Amanda Quick or to anyone who is looking for a fresh, enjoyable contemporary romance with memorable characters and a romance that is outstanding!

This story is probably the best Miss Krentz has ever written. I adore this story. It's a keeper on your shelf! Desdemona is a caterer with a pass, Stark is a man who was left at the altar. Desdemona was hired to cater his wedding but ended up saving it. And when heat started to arise, mysterious things happen. Especially when the person is eager for ARCADE (the software) to kill... I love this story. The suspense was wonderful, I couldn't breathe when I read the story. THIS IS A BUYER! GET IT!

The man who abandoned at the altar for the second time is a sure-fire interest grabber. The caterer who ends up dating the jilted groom is another attention flag I can't resist. At this point I realized I wasn't going to be able to put this book down. The nerd who functions superbly in the world of his computer, but can't seem to understand the real world is a character who I can identify with (possibly JAK's most sympathetic male character ever). Desdimona is a little over the top, but I fell in love with her at once.

Like so many other readers, I started reading Jayne Ann Krentz under her other name, Amanda Quick. I quickly devoured everything she had written and was extremly sad when I got to the end of her books. I love historicals, but I also wanted more of Krentz/Quick's writting so I ventured once again into the world of contemporary romance. _Trust Me_ was the first book I read by Jayne Ann Krentz; I picked it out from my library on a whim, but I don't think I could have picked a better book to start with.Sam Stark was just abandoned at the alter... for the second time. Alone in his office, he is trying to fugure out what went wrong when in comes Desdemona Wainwright, the caterer for his canceled wedding reception. She demands to be payed for her work, even though she feels awful about interupting Stark at such a horrible time in his life. Feeling guilty, she invites him to dinner with her and the rest of the Wainwright clan. At first, Stark is reluctant to except, but he is intriuged by Desdemona, so he agrees. The Wainwright family is a huge clan of mostly out of work actors. They don't like Stark at first... "he's not a theater person". But, as he and Desdemona strike a deal, a passionate love envelopes them, and Desdemona defies her family. But, when a murderer and a blackmailer enter the scene, will Dedemona and Stark be able to find true happiness with each other? Can a precious trust be kept alive or will it be lost forever?_Trust Me_ is a wonderful book by Jayne Ann Krentz. Desdemona was a heroine I really got to care for. She had a strong sense of family, and although it was sometimes a blind sense, Desdemona was loyal and loving. Stark was a very interesting hero. He is basically a nerd with a body that is too die for. I got the feeling he was supposed to be a handsom Bill Gates. One moment you want to jump into the book and give him a hug, and the next you want to throw the book against the wall in hope of bashing some sense into his head. At times he was very loveable and then thoroughly exasperating. The Wainwright family was delightful! They are definitly odd balls, but you love all of them. At times, they are very protective of Desdemona, and at other times they let her run wild. I loved reading about their side plots, and I think Jayne should wright about their plights sometime in the future. I could really conect with the sense of family, and I appreciated it.Being a Seattle-ite, I loved the setting of this book. It was great to hear of a familiar place and to have an actual picture in my mind of what that place really looks like. My only problem with _Trust Me_ was that the mystery was a little weak. In all of Amanda Quick's books, the mystery keeps you guessing until the end, but with this book, I had it figured out befor Desdemona and Stark did. Trust me was the book that got me started on my Krentz book collection. The characters were easy to relate to and the story line was excellent and believable.Stark and Desdemona run into many problems in the course of their relationship but above all they still trust eachother which we all know is the most important aspect of love. I came across this book purely by accident but have since read it several times. I am convinced that anyone who picks it up will enjoy it as I did.
