Helped me with my first relationship after an abusive one

This is a great book for people who suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and have already done some serious work. If you've just been diagnosed, don't pick it up. You're not going to be ready. The book actaully dedicates a few pages to this exact message, so there's a sneak peak. But I want to also say and reiterate that PTSD is NOT just something that soldiers who have fought in a war, and who are coming back. I am not minimizing their PTSD, but it is a very serious thing that many people do not realize they have, that they won't even consider because of what society has attached to this diagnoses. Ok, I'll take a step off my soap box. I was in my first relationship since my abusive one that caused my PTSD. I was having trust issues, which is completely normal and expected. And my girlfriend actually was the one to research and find this book. She started reading it. So it is helpful for people who are not just the one trying to overcome the trauma and it's aftermath and the affects it has on you when it comes to forming new and continuing old relationships. It helped me understand and identify a lot of what was going on inside of me. I would highly recommend this book for someone who has been working on processing their issues (therapy in most cases) and is open and has self awareness to actually take in and process what this book has to offer. However, if you're not ready and you start reading this book, I am fairly sure that it will become very clear that you're not ready. Reading it, I could see how it could cause an increase in intrusive thoughts and possibly flashbacks. Nobody likes those. IF YOU'RE NOT READY FOR THIS BOOK AND YOU NEED TO WORK ON PROCESSING YOUR PTSD, THERE IS A BOOK BY THE SAME AUTHOR: "I CAN'T GET OVER IT" it's a survivor's guide for PTSD. It's what I used to get thru the worth of my PTSD. It helps with triggers and how to overcome/handle/just what to do. Overall: Fantastic book. Extremely helpful. The author's writting style makes it EXTREMELY easy to read for the content. check out her other book. "I CAN'T GET OVER IT" this on is solely for the person suffering from ptsd, unlike this book.

Therapist in a Book

With an emphasis on recovering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD); this book is a fantastic resource for those of us who prefer a "do it yourself" approach to therapy. I have recommended it to clients in my own therapy practice and have personally used and benefited from it in my own recovery.

Trust After Trauma

I have read this book three times over the last year. Each time gave me new insights into healing the pain of chilhood sexual abuse. The author knows what she is talking about. I found the book very painful to work through, but worth the effort toward healing. My partner found it enlightening. Now he knows some of the issuses I am dealing with.

This book is simply outstanding

This book is wonderful. It provides information so that trauma survivors understand their emotions, and behavior, it also offers insight for loved ones and partners of trauma survivors. I recommend it and have recommended it to many people. I can only thank the author for her work!

WorkPlace Issues, Drift, PTSD, Trust, Trauma

Having being exposed to workplace PTSD this book fills the self-help gap to deal with the TRUST AFTER TRAUMA issues related to PTSD. The book is not a final solution to issues but a stepping stone to recognition of ones own issues.A low cost and risk approach to dealing with deep personal issues. The book is well written to say the least and it is not meant to be the final solution for seeking help. A good workbook and excellent references for individual in the people business including workplace and personal relationships situations.I rating is preformance based on the aid it provided to the individual during a trauma. Life must go on. Bravo [email protected]
