How can such a small book cover such a wide topic?Amazingly it does in a none preacher way. Although Dr. Bell is a pastor and a psychiatrist, he is not dogmatic or controlling. To me, like Christ Jesus did in the Gospels, Dr. Bell uses a lot of stories which helps to make his points. In a way, the book is very easy to read, but, as a good steward and to be like the Galatian Church, there is a lot of material to go to the Scriptures to check out. A wonderful approach to having a fruitful Christian life!
The simplicity to spirituality

The subheading of Dr. Bell's book, True Freedom states, this book is a guide to regaining value, power, and hope for the future. When I started the book I wasn't sure what to expect... a preachy way to live a Christian life, the answer to earning money and success, or a way to become the best person I can be. Like the subheading states, this book is a simple look at reorganizing your life in order to provide hope for the future and meaning for the present. I have considered myself a Christian ever since I was little. I suppose I was influenced by my parents and their beliefs as well as having attended church every Sunday for the first 16 years of my life. At the point in time which I lost all of that was when we made the move from Indiana to Michigan, thus losing the homey atmosphere of our church. For the past several months, I have been craving for the knowledge of becoming a better Christian. As I read this book, it all became so clear to me on how to change your life around and instill the beliefs that enable us to call ourselves "Christian." Dr. Bell has a way with words and stories that break the complex word of God into simple antidotes and ways to handle life. At no time at all does Dr. Bell try to preach on how to become perfect or give the reader the idea that he is already perfect and the way to become so is to follow his life and word. If you are looking for a book that helps identify how to deal with the confusing feelings you are going through, or you are interested in becoming a CHRISTIAN in the true sense of the word, you must pick this book up! It teaches you how to worship on your own and to believe what can help you ... not just follow someone else's footsteps, that perhaps are in the pulpit every Sunday.
