Triptych

This is a Christmas play. But one that peers forcefully at the very heart of the modern holiday frenzy without becoming preachy or maudlin. In fact, it's a powerful critique of the modern North American consumer culture, and our wistful search for deeper meaning in our lives. Originally a CBC radio play, I first heard it on CBL AM740 Radio out of Toronto while driving back to my home in Buffalo along the crest of the Niagara Escarpment on a cold December evening in 1972. As a radio professional, it struck me at the time as one of the most moving and intense pieces of "radio drama" I'd ever run across. It retains its power to this day.
