deep dive into toxic punk culture and the suffering of being a closeted trans person

i got this book when i first started listening to against me! in junior year of high school; i was wildly depressed so it took me a while to read, though it had nothing to do with the content. laura is very rawly honest and seeing a first person timeline of the band with the insiders view of her gender and addiction struggles is incredible; also heart wrenching, i cried probably three times during this... it's good to see that laura is happy and sober and living her best life these days!
