Training Camp is an inspirational story filled with invaluable lessons and insights on bringing out the best in yourself and your team. The story follows Martin, an un-drafted rookie trying to make it in the NFL. He's spent his entire life proving to the critics that a small guy with a big heart can succeed against all odds. After spraining his ankle in the pre-season, Martin thinks his dream is lost when he happens to meet a very special coach...

Loved

My basketball coach introduced me to this author. She would read his books to us before practice. After high school, I decided to look up the author and found this book!! I loved readying every word. There are so many different lessons in this book!!

Superb Read!

This is a great book. Like Jon's other books, the approach is simple and to the point. Many leadership books have you deciphering the underlying principles and thinking of ways to apply them. Jon's books always show the principles in action and inspire you to wake up the next day and take action in your life. I especially like the online resources that accompany Training Camp. I printed out a PDF of the 11 Traits of the Best of the Best and the 20 Ways to be Mentally Tough and put them on my wall at work. Now, this book is a part of my life as I read these every day. A book that makes you think about it on a daily basis is the mark of a great book. Teach the priciples to your family and team at work. Find what you are passionate about. Strive to be your best every day. Leave a legacy. Let this book inspire you to greatness.

Unfocused? Uninspired? You need this book.

I feel like perhaps I should start this review by saying. . . "and I don't usually like sports stories." Or maybe that statement should be toward the end of my review, as I begin it instead by saying I read this book after having read all of Jon Gordon's books which preceeded Training Camp. When initially I read the synopsis, I thought, "Hmm. A sports story. I might be a tough sell on this one." Instead, as I read through the book (a very efficient and enjoyable read, by the way!) I found Training Camp to be inspirational, encouraging and empowering. I loved how it took a rookie football player from confused and unfocused (even desperate) at the beginning of the book to being the very best he could be at the end. It's pages contained relevant and powerful words to help someone excel on their life journey. No matter what kind of team you play on, Training Camp will help you and your team grow as individuals and together. I found it an energizing read which made me want to take immediate action on my own dreams! Don't miss this one. ". . .and I don't usually like sports stories." :)

POWERFUL, MOVING and INSPIRING.......

WOW, WOW, WOW and THANK YOU are all I can think to say! I just finished Training Camp and I am so excited about your message. This is by far the best of your 3 and I love all of them. The message in Training Camp will make you reach deep inside of yourself to feelings you may have left behind in the past. I can't wait to share it with our team, friends, family and anyone else who will listen to me. You have out done yourself and millions of other writers I have read over the past years. Looking forward to your next book as I KNOW you will strive to do better than this one and I can't imagine what that could possibly be but I have faith in you!!! You are The Best of the Best in my book!! Shea M.

It sounds cliche, but it's not

Okay, we've all read books about the underdog who rises to the top through sheer determination and hard work with the guidance of a special coach. We've seen the movies (ROCKY and KARATE KID come to mind) in which coaches inspire athletes to do more than they ever dreamed possible. Why do we love books and movies with this story line? Well, I think it's because we readers and viewers believe the best in ourselves is yet to come...if only the right coach discovers and hones our true talent. Read this book and let the words of Jon Gordon be your coach. Follow Martin, a RUDY-like aspiring NFL football player, who attempts to defy the odds to make his childhood dream come true. Read it and you will be inspired. Live it and you will inspire those around you.

Training Camp is a True Life Coaching Tool for Anyone. A Must Read!

Training Camp: What the Best Do Better Than Everyone Else is a must read for anyone and everyone from the sports enthusiast to the business owner to those striving to be good parents. With Training Camp, Author, Jon Gordan has used sports as a basic metaphor for readers to gain knowledge about overcoming, achieving, preparing, having faith, handling pressure, overcoming a bad day, and seizing the moment in whatever you as the reader may be involved in personally. This book is even better than Gordon's previous best seller, The Energy Bus. As a writer myself I only wish I had written this book because I firmly believe it stands to be one of the strongest self help and achievement titles of 2009. I highly encourage everyone who buys or has read my book- Wisdom & Wisecracks for the Aspiring Business Owner- to also read Training Camp. It will change how you think about overcoming, achieving and success in business and in life. Will Estell-Author/Publisher
