Flora BeGora fell into helping the local police quite by accident and now she's become a valued member of the team. And she loves it though it leaves little room for her original retirement plans of gardening and volunteering. So here she goes again On a hot summer day, Flora has gone down to the lake for a swim. On the beach she discovers the remains of a beach party and items that need to be reported to the police. A young woman's body is soon discovered, an unfortunate victim of a drug overdose. Flora, disturbed by the horrific cost of drugs to the users and their families, grits her teeth to help her favorite detective, Lawrie Stephenson and her less favorite detective, Emmett Dixon, work on discovering the source of the deadly drugs being sold locally around Port BreeZe. People are dying. A constant irritation in this investigation, is the very nosy Hennie Fritzler, who is determined to find out what she is up to. Seems to be just innocent curiosity but he keeps sticking his fingers in where they don't belong. Flora is assisted by her all too willing efficient personal investigative team of Phim Bellfontaine, Bill Hill, Sandy Stevenson (yes, the detective's wife) and a few other characters who show up regularly. Flora delves into the shadowy world of drugs and the dangers of being associated with it. She is in danger at times and must walk very, very carefully.
