Twins are always fascinating for all of us non-twins. We can't imagine having a person who looks so much like you but is so different. This story is about two twins girls entering middle school. Emma is the studious one who has already won many academic prizes. She likes being comfortable and doesn't care what she looks like. Payton is the fashion twin who isn't as studious, but who wants to be popular. They have been going to a small all-girl school since they started, but this year they are now going to a big public middle school. Both are very excited but for different reasons: Payton for the social aspects and Emma for the academics. When they get there, they both find the social groups they want to be a part of have a Queen Bee who is hard to please. So... for a few different reasons they decide to switch places. The book only covers two weeks, but within those two weeks the twins discover truths about themselves that make them happier with themselves and each other. TRADING FACES was a fast read and very fun. Both twins are very likable, and since it is written by a set of twins the story is realistic. I highly recommend this book for middle school girls. I am giving it to some of my fifth graders to read. Reviewed by: Marta Morrison

She couldn't put it down

I bought this for my daughter on her 12th birthday. She immediately wanted to read it and when she did, she couldn't put it down. If she could have, she would have finished it in one day!

Thumbs up from my daughter!

I picked up this book to read since I've become quite the fan of Julia DeVillers books after reading her recent work "Princess of Gossip". Before I could get the chance, my 10 year old picked it up and finished it before I could. This is her review, I've since read it and wholeheartedly agree. Cute book, with a great message! submitted by: Katie Unlike other books Trading Faces captures my attention because I can picture the plot due to it's detailed wording. This text is so interesting when I finished one chapter I want to start the next.

Great, fun read for girls

"Trading Faces" by Julia DeVillers (Princess of Gossip) and Jennifer Roy (Yellow Star) is a fun and breezy read for girls. The book is about identical twins Payton and Emma Mills. They have spent their elementary school years in a private school where they went to all the same classes, so they've never been apart in school. This year they are entering junior high school, and at their new public school they have completely different classe schedules for the first time. Initially they're panicked because brainiac Emma doesn't have much in the way of social skills, so out-going Payton covers for her socially and Emma covers for the less brilliant Payton when she doesn't have the right answer. They've got each other's backs. The first couple of days, all goes well as they fit into their social circles (Payton's being the popular crowd and Emma's being the brains), but then Payton and Emma are forced to switch schedules for a day. Will they prefer being their opposites? This is an interesting book about how kids fit into a social level where they think they belong, but if they're put into a situation where they don't have to be themselves, who knows what they can do? Emma and Payton discover that there are good things about being themselves but that they can change for the better. Julia DeVillers and Jennifer Roy are identical twins and they kept the friendship between the sisters positive and never catty, which I appreciated. This book will show girls that it's ok to be you, but why don't you step out of your box a little and see where it takes you?
