Tracy Flick Can't Win

I have to admit I didn't read the first one, just saw the movie. Luckily for me that didn't matter and I was able to hop right into the story and the characters thanks to Perrotta's amazing writing. There are multiple POV characters in this book, and every single one is such a fully fleshed-out character, I'm more inclined to call them human. Every character has a distinct, unique voice complete with their own way of seeing things, their own biases and interpretations which show in their thoughts, replies, and actions to others. This is very much a character-driven book and I loved every minute of it. While some of these characters aren't people I would want to know, Perrotta gave them so much humanity than I was along for the ride every dismissive, rude, crazy thing they did or said. Without moralizing or becoming didactic, Perrotta leads you along with these characters to lingering questions on morality, success, ambition, and society and when you put the book down you will still be lingering over these thoughts. Loved this book.
