Luck is what you make it...

As a very average 13-year-old girl with gifted older and younger siblings, Karen Sossi often feels cursed with bad luck. Why else would she do so badly on tests and homework? Or not make friends in her new hometown when Elaine and Aldo don't seem to have any trouble at all? It takes a little time -- and a few mistakes -- til Karen begins to understand a little about herself, and the value her own unique self brings, to the Sossi family, her school and everyone she comes across. Readers will identify with Karen's feelings of frustration, dealing with increasing responsibilities of junior high, family expectations and sibling comparison.

Hope You Have Good Luck Karen

This story takes place in the present at school and at Karen's house. At school Karen is having a lot of problems and cause of that her mom (Mrs.Sossi) took away what she always wanted to do. That setting is important because it shows that Karen wants to learn and wants to get educated and it talks about what she does things that are not important. This book is mostly about Karen and her family Mrs.Sossi (mom), Mr. Sossi (dad), Elaine (sister), and Aldo (brother). Karen is having problems with one of the teacher for not doing . Then Karen has been assigned to do something for a teacher. In my opinion I liked the book because it is interesting , sometimes some parts seemed realistic kids. I would recommend this book because it is interesting not boring to read and catchy by the title.

Karen Sossi learns it's enough to be herself in this story

Our heroine, Karen Sossi, is your typical kid: an okay student of middling popularity. Now that her family has moved to the suburbs, Karen struggles to find new friends and make a new place for herself. Sandwiched between a high-achieving older sister and a precocious younger brother, Karen often feels her own contribution to the family is less than outstanding. However, her passion for cooking and her talent for babysitting demonstrate she has much of value to offer. The Sossi family is warm, loving and refreshingly normal. Though my daughters were several years younger than Karen when we first read this book, they enjoyed her mishaps and could understand the feelings she and many young teens struggle with.
