Romance takes a new twist

Robin T. Popp takes romance into another world with a witty, fast paced novel full of sexual tension. This futuristic romance weaves the complex plot naturally around the reader. I couldn't put this book down, and I'm anxiously waiting for the next book to see what new world and dramatic adventure this author will take us to. Angel is a herione that I instantly fell in love with. She has a kick butt attitude that women and girls of all ages can connect with, but she's also vulnerable which makes her likeable. Popp effortlessly made me root for this heroine, in love and in life. The hero, Nicoli, is a man that fills many women's dreams. He's a warrior, a commander and always in control. His body is one that would make any women swoon, but he's also dedicated and loyal to anyone who has his heart. With two people such as these, this book once again makes me believe in loyalty, committment and love. If you want to get away from the real world and fall in love all over again, then TOO CLOSE TOO THE SUN is just the book for you.

A very unique space adventure

When a deal goes badly, smuggler Angel Torrence returns to Earth only to collect the money due her. Instead of the clean get a way she hopes for, her just paid off ship explodes before her very eyes. The ship she hijacks to escape turns out to be possessed by a computer that thinks it's alive. Nicoli Romanof doesn't want to rely on the child pilot that in several daring moves launched his ship. However in the middle of a top secret mission to bring down the Harvestors, he must rely on "Michaels" (the name Angel gives Nicoli), to aide him in regaining his body from the Harvestors - a species that kidnaps people and sells the bodies on the black market. When the recovery mission fails to go as expected, the pair are forced to work together as they fight for their very survival. Angel must return to her own past and face her worst fears while Nicoli must discover that while women can be feminine, not every woman wishes to be protected from experiencing life.A very fast paced space adventure, TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN is the ultimate game of cat and mouse. Facing both known and unknown enemies Nicoli and Angel really can only trust each other. The worlds created are something right out of the movies and the tension between characters will leave you wondering 'who is the bad guy?' until the surprising conclusion! I loved the humor woven into some of the scenes as well. This was such a different story and so refreshing. I would highly recommend this book as an excellent space adventure with a heroine with more guts than brawn and a hero larger than life.

Too Close to Perfection!

Robin Popp's futuristic romance, TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN, shines from page one. No wonder it's won a dozen contests and was nominated for the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart Award. Popp's characters are vividly drawn and appealing. I love Angel's outer toughness and inner vulnerability. Nicoli is the perfect alpha male: fierce, protective, with a heart only Angel can touch. The chemistry between these two sizzles--even when Nicoli doesn't have a body! This is one of the most original books I have ever read. The twist at the end especially blew me away. I always hear romance readers saying they are tired of the same plots and stories. If you are looking for something new and hot by an author who is sure to be a best-seller very soon, read TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN.

Futuristic Romantic Adventure is an Awesome Read

This is the best futuristic romance I have ever read, but I think it would be better to call it a Futuristic Romantic Adventure. Let me explain. All galactic smuggler Angel Torrence wanted to do that day was lean against the bar, relax with a drink and recover from a wound she received on her latest mission. She never intended to get caught up in a terrorist attack, let alone commandeer a stolen ship with a bossy computer telling her where to fly. But gosh darn, that computer has a sexy voice. And it should. The voice belongs to Colonel Nicoli Romanof, an officer in the United System of Planets Security Forces, and the ship?s computer now possesses his life essence. So where?s the sexy body that goes with his voice? That?s the problem, and Angel is wrangled into finding it and thus setting out on a mission to save the universe from the deadly race of Harvestors. These horrific beings rob other races of their life essence and then recycle their bodies. The power struggle that begins on board between independent and strong-willed Angel and a determined Nicoli becomes a battle of physical resistance when they at last come face to face. Because of her past and the rules and culture she?s run away from, she has vowed no man will ever control her. Nicoli has suffered too much tragedy and heartache to chance love again. Somehow they have to overcome these personal obstacles even while their ship is being fired upon, or while they?re dueling with Coronadian warring blade, and dodging deadly lasers. Oh, and did I mention the slave auction scene where Angel first sets eyes on the handsome Nicoli in the flesh? Oh no, gentle reader?you?ve got to read all about that for yourself! Robin Popp has created a universe that the reader can become a part of from the very first scene. Her characters love and hate, live and die, win and lose with such reality that even the newcomer to futuristic romance will completely lose themselves in the story by the end of Chapter One. Angel and Nicoli?s fantastic journey will take you on a breathless voyage that will keep you on the edge of your seat and awake all night because you won?t set the book down until The End. This is not a book for the faint of heart. This is a powerful story about strong people who struggle to find happiness while on the adventure of a lifetime. I absolutely loved Too Close to the Sun--It?s on fire!

Great futuristic romance

In 2503 at an old world pub in the Las Vegas Coastal Airfield, smuggler Angel Torrence goes from elation to shock rather quickly. Felinean Avengers, seeking retaliation for what she did to the crime boss' son, blow up her ship the Falcon. Desperate to escape, she steals the idle Icarus. On board the vessel is scientist healer Yanur Snellen who is on two quests. He must find a way to stop the alien menace the Harvesters and must rescue the body of his friend Colonel Nicole Ramanoff, whose essence he has loaded into the ship's computer. From the computer, Nicole orders Angel to do his bidding or else. As they argue voice to body over supremacy in this odd relationship both begins to fall in love and soon she makes his cause hers. However, both know the future is bleak between a machine harboring the brain and soul of a man and a full blooded woman with needs and desires making it even more imperative to rescue his body from the Avengers. Then there is the matter of saving humanity before the Harvesters reap through mankind. This science fiction romance is a powerful futuristic tale that sub-genre fans and those who appreciate a delightful speculative fiction story will enjoy. The story line is loaded with action that enables the audience to believe five centuries plus from now is already her. However, the key is the cast as Popp makes the growing love between a disembodied male and a hyperactive female so genuine. TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN is a superb story that will gain new fans for Ms. Popp.Harriet Klausner
