Tonal Harmony in Concept and Practice

I bought my first copy back in 1967 when I was a freshman at the Temple College of Music. I especially like the keyboard patterns (to be played in _every_ key_) at the end of most chapters. These exercises are great for both classical and jazz keyboard players.Forte describes theory in a way (at least to me) that makes sense. This is not a Music Theory for Dummies book - you probably already have a serious interest in music theory if you buy this book. I still read it from time to time and practice the keyboard patterns several times a year. The book is worth buying if only for those keyboard patterns.This book is longer in print (I believe), but I managed to buy a second copy (third edition) in 2002. Wow! What can I say? This book is very well structured with a lot of useful information. If you are into music theory, this is the book for you. If you don't have any ideas for a composition, all you need to do is read a little passage in this book to get you started on your way to writing a song. I highly reccomend this book to you.
