Book Overview

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - Sam and Sadie--two college friends, often in love, but never lovers--become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. Beautifully Written, Emotionally Unfulfilling

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is a well-written and absorbing novel that follows two friends who bond over video games and spend their lives creating them. While the writing is engaging and the story draws you in, it ultimately left me feeling as if I’d missed something. The plot doesn’t explore any profound themes or offer life lessons; instead, it focuses on a boy and a girl who struggle to communicate effectively, despite their deep connection. Their lives seem stunted by the creative process, as if their work consumes everything else. Though the story captures the complexities of friendship, creativity, and ambition, it didn’t resonate with me in a meaningful way. It’s a solid novel for readers who appreciate character-driven narratives and the world of gaming, but if you’re looking for bigger questions or deeper reflections on life, this one might not hit the mark. Well done, just not for me.

A Glimpse into the Lives of Those Immersed in Human Generated Fantasy

As a woman who grew up with telephones with cords, VHS tapes, and a Nintendo NES system, this was a profoundly interesting read about people who fully immersed themselves into the world of video games and the everchanging technology we've experienced in the past few decades. This technology has shaped the lives and livelihoods of human beings in a multitude of ways. The story, however, reminds us that we are all human with thoughts, feelings, and empathy (or lack there of). As a mother, it was a great glimpse into the possibilities that this technology offers in the form of education, friendships, careers, and opportunity. However, it was a reminder that even though technology can offer a form of "escape" from reality, we can never escape who we are as human beings at the core.

Absorbing

A very well written book. I found the language and the story very engaging. Definitely recommend.
