Story with an Interesting Perspective

I found the author's combining an actual historical dilemma with a fictional tale about its resolution intriguing. The text and illustrations are wonderful at conveying how diplomacy and democracy (in this case a very grass-roots democracy) can make things work well for everyone.

A great little book

In this great little book, Tom Turkey and Erik Eagle, animals not only speak buy have thoughts and distinct personalities. They overcome an interesting problem through group effort. The illustrations enhance the tale's credibility for the younger reader and sophistication for anyone who thinks he is too old for a picture book. Even adults would love these amazing drawings. The short lively chapters and historic context add appeal. [ASIN:1559708913 Tom Turkey and Erik Eagle: Or How the Eagle Became the American Symbol]

WONDERFUL ARTWORK WONDERFUL STORY! Children of all ages will love this book!

I read Tom Turkey and Erik Eagle to a group of children (ages 4 to 8 )and they responded with both wonder and mirth. The book is both eductional and entertaining . The author-illustrator, Ms. Sandra Caulder Davidson (daughter of Alexander Caulder) has inherited her fathers sense of whimsy and delight. Buy it! Bert Salzman
