Tom Shields Free at Last

It took me some time to finish this book,as after each story, I had to wait till the tears of laughter subsided before continuing to the next.Clean humour at its best.Roy Davies CT. USA. Formaly of Greenock,Scotland.

As an avid reader of the diary page in the (Glasgow) Herald newspaper, I was delighted to receive a copy of this book at Christmas 1998. The book is a collection of short usually (but not always) witty stories from around Scotland and occasionally the world.The contents are largely supplied by the readership of the paper and if necessary re-written by Tom Shields, who is effectively both the writer and the editor. Stories of a funny and foolish nature abound. Such as the one about the Kangaroo bolting into the bush wearing the jacket of a rather silly tourist (his passport and wallet were in the jacket)It's the sort of book you pick up thumb through laugh with and put down again. You may even find yourself rationing your reading lest you finish it too soon. I personally advise rationing to avoid the obvious problem of humour fatigue.A decent man would pass his copy of the book on to someone else to allow them to enjoy the experience. However I am not a decent man so go buy your own.
