This wonderful book packs interesting history in its thirty pages. It is well written and easy for young readers to follow. The illustrations are colorful and informative. The children in our family enjoy reading this book over and over and asking questions about the past--how such a canal was built and why. It is fascinating to them to learn about the days when material was shipped via canal. Such books are helpful in introducing youngsters to the value of history and encourage them to read more. Thanks to Thomas Rooney for kindling the discovery of a lifetime of learning with enjoyment of times gone by. Well worth adding to your children's library.
