The Marquess of Drakefield knows firsthand the costs of marrying a pauper-both in heartbreak and in coin. But his dying best friend has asked Drakefield to look after his widow. Winning over the wary girl is one thing-but accepting his love for her is another.
This book was an enjoyable read! The story felt a little darker than most regencies, but the secondary characters add some lighthearted humor. I liked both the hero and heroine, but I think that the secondary characters steal the show. A nice read for a rainy day!

The Characterization was a little weak, but I still liked the characters. The kid was cute and engaged in some entertaining antics. The hero was romantic, appropiatly smitten with the heroine, and his responsible behavior towards the heroine was commendable. Some of the plot elements were a little far fetched, but I liked the romance and adventure. This book was not perfect but I did like it.
