To Love a Cowboy

The first story, TO LOVE A COWBOY, is about a cowboy in love with his boss/business partner's much younger son. The story starts when Roan just gets home from years away at college and a ranch job, and Patrick must face his feelings for the young man. The relationship is great, the sex is incredibly spicy, and the characters are fantastic. The story is only 120 pages though, and though it's a good story it isn't the best cowboy romance I've ever read (that award goes to THE TIN STAR by J. L. Langley and LONGHORNS by Victor J. Banis). Toward the end, there's an entire chapter devoted to a secondary character, so I wonder if a sequel might be in the works. TO LOVE A COWBOY is worthy of a very solid 4 stars. --------------------------------------------------- The second story, JUSTICE, is about three brothers looking for revenge, but finding home instead. While they're out looking for the crook responsible for their parents' death, they stop for a while in an odd little town called Justice, where same-sex relationships are perfectly okay. Each man finds a lover of his own, and the three brothers must decide whether they want to start new lives in Justice or continue searching for the bad guy. The author states at the beginning of the story that it's basically just her fantasy of "how the west should have been won", and it's really not a story to be taken seriously at all. It almost reminds me of a South Park spoof, or the gay version of an episode of Bonanza. It's cute and silly, and that's about it. Even the sex is a bit cheesy. I can give it 3 stars because I didn't exactly hate it, but I'm glad I didn't pay extra for it. ---------------------------------------------------- I give 3.5 stars to the book as a whole. Worth a read because of the first story, but only at the Kindle price. I wouldn't pay full price for this in print, since I only liked the first 120 pages.

Even if the title is the same of the first story, the book is really two complete stories of about the same lenght. In the first, To Love a Cowboy, Patrick is a 45 years old foreman of a wealthy horse ranch. He is also the owner of the 45% of that ranch, being an old friend of the boss, and he is also in love with the 25 years old son of his friend, Roan. Roan has a crush on Patrick since he was 14, and he has also managed to sneak an handjob with said foreman when he was 18. But soon after Patrick had chicken out on the prospective to be in love with a so much younger man and Roan went to college and never back home for seven years. Now he is again at home and he has every intention to bring down the walls Patrick has built around him. I like the story, even if I find strange to read of a total acceptance of manlove in a small town. No one says nothing, nor Roan's father (and maybe this is due to his long date friendship with Patrick), or the people on the ranch, or in the village. And around the ranch there is not one but even two gay bars, or at least a place where gay couples can hang out without problems... Apart this strange feeling (strange but not bad...), the two main characters are really charming. Patrick is a a one piece man, who believe in the forever love and family. Maybe a bit stubborn in refusing a good thing when it's right in front of him, but ready to admit his mistakes. Roan is the classical eager puppy lover: young and not still enough confident of his powers, he relies on sex to stake his claim. And to prove a point. When refused at eighteen years old he has not adopted the mourning lover beahviour, and instead he has made as much experiences as he could, and now he is ready, and willing, to admit that his first love was the real one. If said love is willing to say the same. The second story, Justice, has an historical setting in a late nineteen century Far West small town, the Justice of the title. But it is also a alternative world setting. In fact, in the small town, all the main characters are gays: the hotel owner, the saloon owner and his lover, the brothel owner, the librarian... only the stable owner is not gay... she is a woman and she is lesbian! Three (gay) brothers arrive in this fantasy land town in search of vengeance upon an old enemy, and instead they find love. The younger, Nate, is involved in a threesome with Luke and Jamison (saloon and brothel owners) and the middle, Noah, with Simon (hotel owner); instead Adam, the older, is a bit reluctant to surrender to the courtship of the librarian, Dale. Most of the romance is spent telling us of the newborn couples and the revenge plan is put aside until almost the end. Probably the characters who win the main scene are Noah and Simon. Adam and Nate play the role of supporting characters. Again the total acceptance is a little disconcerting, but in this case is more "normal", given also the introduction of the author where she tells us as she dreamed on the o

To Love A Cowboy Patrick Lassiter has fought against the chemistry between himself and Roan Bucklin for years. While Roan had gone off to college and made the circuit working other ranches, it was easy to just fantasize about him. Now, Roan's back and he's all grown up. Roan has made it known that he wants him, but Patrick has always been bothered by their age difference and fears Roan will eventually move on to someone younger thus breaking his heart. Patrick's self-control is wavering though and he finds himself wanting to claim Roan for his own. Rhianne Aile's To Love A Cowboy is spectacular. The magnetism between Patrick and Roan will sweep you up and turn you inside out as your heart melts. To Love A Cowboy is laced with edginess, laden with passion and will make your heart soar. Justice An outlaw named Elias murdered Adam, Noah and Nathanial's parents. The three brothers have been tracking Elias's movements, trying to catch him and exact fitting retribution. Their travels bring them to a small town named Justice, and the boys feel they've finally found somewhere, once they settle their score with Elias, they can call home. The locals don't seem to mind that all three men prefer men for companionship; in fact they seem to revel in it. Justice is set in the old west where hotel owners bring hot bath water to the rooms and barkeepers buy your first drink to welcome you to town. Ms. Aile outdid herself in this lovely story about three brothers in search of justice and in finding it they also find love. I absolutely loved To Love A Cowboy and feel if you love a great read with sexy cowboys, this book is a MUST. Both stories are western tales that are bound to satisfy your craving for Stetsons, work-roughened hands, men in saddles and of course men loving men. Raine reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Two good short novellas make this book worth a look, each story for a different reason. The first story, "To Love a Cowboy," as you would expect from such a title, is basically a romance story. While it has several hot sex scenes between Roan and Patrick, and another involving Patrick's ex Tyler (who deserves his own story!), it is basically the story of two guys who've loved each other passionately for a long time finally working throught their respective shortcomings (mostly involving communication skills, or the lack thereof) to create a life partnership. By the end of the story, their "marriage" looks like a good bet to last a lifetime. I really enjoyed the romance between the two and the hot stepping each did to finally reach their conclusion. The other story, "Justice," is shorter than the first novella and is weighted much more heavily to the erotic side than the romantic side, though several hopeful seeming romantic relationships develop in it. Read this one for some incredibly hot sex scenes between some hot cowboys. I thought the first story worth five stars, the second a strong four; worth four and a half or more stars, but they don't allow a rating between four and five. Good, fun read; strongly recommended.

I love gay cowboys stories so this one definitely appeals. 2 novellas here. "To love a cowboy" is one engaging, romantic and angsy story as Patrick, the tough foreman of his friend's ranch, refuses to succumb to his love for Roan, his friend's son, as he is afraid of eventually being spurned by the much younger man. The lust, jealousy, misunderstanding and tension as they dance around each other is a delightful read. Patrick is one stubborn cowboy and it takes a little help from mother nature before he finally accepts his young explosive lover. The side characters are well developed too and I would have loved to read more about Tyler, Patrick's "fxxx" buddy" who has his own unhappy past. The second story "Justice" is one hot romantic erotica as 3 brothers rode into a town called "Justice" seeking vengence from their parents' killer. But Justice is no ordinary town. It is every gay cowboy's sanctuary as the 3 brothers find acceptance, friendship and love. The writer has done a fine job in this one. There are lots of characters here as there are 3 couples/relationships, one of them a threesome, but the writer manages to make each man a distinct character. The plot is tightly paced, with exciting moments, and we of course have 3 love stories here rolled into one novella, which is a wonderful bonus. I wish "Justice" is a full blown novel to do more justice to the interesting characters. I would have loved to read more about Luke and his Jamison. Looking forward to more M/M from Rhianne Aile.
