A rare and wonderful book that presents a panoramic and lively picture of what courtship, marriage, and married life was like for women across the American continent during the nineteenth century. Color throughout.
This is a beautiful book which illustrates some of the history of quilting in a touching, personal manner. I found it to be heartwarming as it tells the story of a number of women and the hardships they endured as pioneers. Their stories are told by means of pictures, diary entries, letters and of course, their beloved quilts. I enjoyed reading this book just for the sheer pleasure of learning about this historical era and highly recommend it to anyone who loves both history and quilting.
