Great book for western readers!

A really great book for those who like westerns! I am a great fan of Louis Lamour and Zane Grey and love the old western movies. This story really appealed to me. I passed it along to my twograndsons (15 and 18) and they loved it. It bridged the generation gap. Not as much deep thought in these Thoene westerns as their other historicals. I am grateful for this, as sometimes I just want a good, easy, entertaining read which does not make me THINK so hard! These Thoene books are very different from their Zion books and Shiloh books. These are so very different that I wonder if they did not write them for the sake of giving us good, clean, dependable entertainment which we can easily share with readers of all ages without fear of the vulgarity and profanity which has become so common in all genres these days. There is a place for both the serious historical fiction for which the Thoenes are so well known and these light, entertaining books as well. I really love the westerns and hope they will continue writing them. Please, for us old fuds and our grandkids too, keep them coming. The modern world is heavy enough that we need this kind of old west break once in a while!

Great

This is a great book. I just finished it and I am going to read it again. Anyone who liked the Thoene books should read it. It is great

One of the best western historicals I've ever read.

Once again the Thoenes have written a novel worthy of a Louis Lamour western! Reading this story was like watching a great John Wayne movie. The fact that they started out working for John Wayne is evident in their writing of this series! Wonderful story. Even though it is a lot different from Galway Chronicles and the Zion books, I was not dissappointed. I hope they write a lot more of these books. A GREAT READ!
