Tipsy in Madras: A Complete Guide to 80s Preppy Drinking, Including Proper Attire, Cocktails for Every Occasion, the Best Beer, the Rig

This is great for any true prep, especially at the beach. I took this along to Hilton Head with my fellow preps and it made us long for the 80s, thirsty, and eventually very intoxicated! This makes a good companion to the Official Preppy Handbook.

The book is a good book in the sense of what the subject is: drinks for the preps. There was mention of what to "wear" and such, but it didn't get into that, look for other sources like the Preppy Handbook for that. Otherwise, a really good book, fun to read, recipes, and a great sense of humor! You can tell that the authors had fun writing this book.

To really appreciate a book about preppy drinking in the 80s, you had to have been a preppy drinker in the 80s! Reading TIM brought me right back to the days of drinking Tab & rum while pulling all-nighters in prep school and college...This is a PERFECT gift for a fellow preppy friend =D.

I roared with delight as I read through these pages of "Tipsy in Madras", as did those to whom I read portions aloud. It brought back to the present my journeys through New England and New York visiting friends at the schools described and trying to remember if my Madras shirts were bleeding on the mornings after our cultural exchanges in the effort to find the perfect martini, (at the Algonquin Oak Room), or the best beer for brushing our teeth,(Turborg). Buy this, you will know instantly how to rate your drinking partners. This has the best directions and the best standards for past and future Preppys.

I really enjoyed this book, written with a sense of humor and alot of info, it brought back some great memories..I also enjoyed making a few of the drinks,,love those bloodies!!
