Tiny Temptations

Tiny Treats: Fun Foods to Make And Eat (American Girls Collection Sidelines)What little girl can resist teeny tiny edible miniatures you can make all by yourself out of things you have around the house... great for parties and sleepovers... and American Girl, who we've come to know and trust, hits a home run with this book! I catch my preteen daughter flipping through the pages almost daily making plans for the next time she has a friend over. It's irresistible!

darling book for kids

Tiny Treats is a different sort of cookbook. Kids aren't really cooking, they are making edible art projects that end up doll-sized. To give you a rough idea of the types of "recipes", one recipe might call for sticking an Oreo onto a plate with a dab of canned frosting, frosting the Oreo top, adding another Oreo, frosting the whole thing. Let it sit overnight (the frosting softens the cookie) and when you slice it into teeny wedges it looks exactly like a layer cake (the cookie part of the Oreo looks like the cake layers). But of course you'd never be able to make a real cake like that. See a picture of the finished "cake" on the cover of the book. There is a similar project using frosting and Pop tarts. It really does look quite impressive when it's all done. The sturdy spiral binding lets the book open flat; great for young chefs. I am planning on buying one as a birthday gift for an 8 year old along with a few grocery store items to help get her started on her creations (in case Mom isn't willing to run out to the store for ingredients).

So Cute!!

My daughter and I bought this book. Boy was it filled with some really cute ideas. I am far from crafty but this book is made for little kids so the "recipes" in the book are ultra easy. There were lots of things in there that I would have never thought of on my own. This was a genius idea.

Fun Foods for Kids to Make!

Perfect age? 9. Makes a great gift, we surprised our daughter with this and Micro Mini book for X-Mas. She started making the donuts right away. A spark of imagination and you can easily subsitute any of the items for ones you have at home.
