A New Witch and a Mac Truck Sized Dog

I loved this! Atlas is adorable. I don’t like that the main character, Dahlia thinks so poorly of herself and has such low self-esteem, but I believe she’ll gain confidence as time passes. Atlas will do the same. Both of them are lonely and scared, but together they’ll solve many crimes to come. Basically, Dahlia Wildes is a housekeeper (cleans peoples houses), lives in New Orleans, and has always been somewhat “invisible” due to being the 4th child of 7. So, being a middle child she’s learned to blend into the background and not bring much attention to herself. One day Dahlia is cleaning a house that is known to be haunted and when she sees a child (but it’s actually a ghost child and not tangible like Dahlia believes) sneak away from her and onto a balcony that is decaying and therefore dangerous to walk on, Dahlia follows the child to tell him to come back or he might hurt himself. Well, the child is nowhere to be seen, so Dahlia steps out into the balcony To find him. Well, um, after Dahlia falls through the wood of that balcony she sees something glowing white and she chases after it. She doesn’t walk very far when she ends up at a restaurant called Medium Rare and meets Nora. Bada bing, Dahlia not only discovers she’s a rare type of witch, but she also finds out she died on that balcony and Eastwind is now her home. Unfortunately there are only two books in this series, but I imagine there will be more to come. It’s also cool that this takes place in Eastwind and that I’ve read other series by Nova that take place in the same town. So, Nora, the lady who is basically hosting Dahlia, I know a bit of her story based on her series that I read quite some time ago. 😊 Some things about Nora’s life I’ve forgotten; however, I do remember Medium Rare and Ruby, Dante, Tanner, Grim, Cliff and of course Ted - heh! Guess I’ll need to check to see if there are any other series that take place in Eastwind with other characters. Oh! I read a couple of Ruby’s books. Gosh though, it’s been awhile. Dahlia’s story continues in Book 2 of 2, “Deadly Inn Tensions” “Crossing Over Easy (Eastwind Witches #1)” is the first book starring Nora which I finished on May 12, 2021. The last book in Nora’s series is “Happily Herafter (Eastwind Witches #13)” which I finished May 21, 2021. If you liked Dahlia Wildes story, be sure to read Nora’s, too! After Nora’s, read Ruby’s books which begin with “Werebear Scare (A Ruby True Magical Mystery #1)”. There are 3 books in her series which I just discovered now! I only read the first 2, so after Dahlia’s 2, I’ll read the third of Ruby’s. Of course you’re probably not following along with all these names, but you will when you start reading Nova’s Eastwind books!
