Very Nice!

Railway Rhymes is a large, colorful board book with "puffy" (padded) covers. What's extra special about this book is the silver edging on this book. Remember those large family Bibles that had gold edges that shone when closed? This book has the same edging, except in silver--making it truly special. My son asks me to read a few poems every night and enjoys looking through the book. It's great to hear from some of the lesser known residents of the Island of Sodor (Bulstrode, Murdoch, Rheneas, Stepney, Trevor, et.al.), too! What I found particularly interesting is that the poems aren't written in the same style. Some feature longer lines, almost like a story--while others are quite short. For example, here's the rhyme from The Breakdown Train: "The Breakdown Train, he has no name. He's quiet, strong, and spare. But if there's a crash and trains go smash, The Breakdown Train is there." Here's a fun poem from Bertie the bus: "Faster, wheels! Round and round, To Wellsworth Station, I am bound! Honk! Honk! Make way! I have stops to make today! Waah! Waah! Babies, hush! Don't cry--I'm in a rush! Vroom! Vroom! Beep! Beep! There's a schedule I must keep! Crossing's down, Boo-hoo! Thomas goes to Wellsworth, too! Stop sign! No fair! I really want to beat him there! Hurry, Driver! Please give chase. Who do you think will win this race?" Thomas and Friends Railway Rhymes is an excellent introduction to Sir Topham Hatt and the denizens on the Island of Sodor. Fans of Thomas the Tank Engine will likely be thrilled to see colorful illustrations of all their favorite trains and other vehicles--as well as fun rhymes.

Excellent book and my kids love it very much

This book is amongst the best of the Thomas & Friends' series as it has tons of poems and rhymes of various engines working in the Isle of Sodor that every kid would love to read if they are Thomas & Friends' fans! My kids love it very much and I have to read to them everyday!

Fun, fun, fun!

My 3 yr old received this for his birthday and it has become his favorite book. The illustrations are excellent, bold and colorful. The poems are quick to read. This collection is versatile. If he is in the mood for a long read, we go through the whole book. If he isn't in the mood to sit still that long then we read a couple of poems. The poems cover most of the characters in the Thomas stories, which is nice.

Little Thomas Fan

This is a wonderful book. It has poems about new trains yet some of the older trains and of course all the favorite trains. It has all forms of poems, some short some long. Great for the younger fans and for the older ones too. Beautiful colorfull pages. Over all this is our favorite by far of all the Thomas books. And we have a ton of them. We get them for all over the world, England, New Zealand.

Great introduction to Thomas characters.

This is really not your ordinary board book. It is a much larger size than most board books and has 35 pages. I want my son to start reading about Thomas but since he's only 2 1/2 years, I'm a little worried about some of the darker themes in the complete collection that's for sale. This book has a poem for each of the major Thomas characters (not just the engines but the conductor and other vehicles as well). The thing I like about it is that it is still a board book and suitably sturdy for my son, who can be rough on books. However, the written content is not the least bit babyish. The poems are long and single-spaced with more interesting content that my son craves without the delicacy of a paper book. I think this is an excellent introduction to the Thomas characters and a very good value too.
