Beautifully Done

This is a time travel story that takes place when a successful entertainment attorney, Katherine (Kate), decides to take a spontaneous trip after experiencing strange dreams that make her long for something more out of life. She divorced years ago and is alone in the world except for two close friends who co-own a talent agency with her. Her trip to Northern California takes her to a small town and while on a walk along a river bed she slips and hits her head after seeing a vision of an Indian woman waving to her. When she wakes up she finds herself rescued by a reclusive mountain man. Although he speaks with a refined English accent, her giant rescuer is hidden behind a scruffy beard and long hair and he acts like someone out of the previous century. Kate wonders why she finds this man attractive after the two years of celibacy since her divorce. Flynt Avery wonders about the strange woman he finds. Although she dresses like a loose woman, she acts and talks like a prim lady. Flynt wonders why he finds himself attracted to this woman after two years of reclusiveness after the disappearance and presumed death of his wife, Little Deer. When Kate insists he take her to the nearest town, she is shocked to discover she has traveled back in time to the late 1800's. She pleads with Flynt to take her back with him, but then he is taunted by an arrogant French gambler who claims Flynt killed his wife. During their fight, Flynt is knifed and nearly killed by the Frenchman. Kate takes Flynt to a boarding house ran by two friendly spinsters and helps nurse him back to health. During his recovery, Flynt keeps having a strange dream where he is alone in the woods and a cougar approaches him and appears to be ready for attack. During Flynt and Kate's time at the boardinghouse they fall in love and she returns with him back to the cabin. They become lovers and decide they will marry, although neither one is certain Kate will remain in this time. Flynt's Indian grandfather warns that there is danger and uncertainty ahead, but that the two will not say goodbye. Before they can do anything, Flynt is accused of the murder of the Frenchman's wife and son and it is up to Kate to save him from the hangman's noose. They also must figure out what their dreams mean, although it is now clear that Little Deer sent Kate to save Flynt from hanging. This is a wonderful story, but there are a couple of small flaws. The author does a pretty good story of describing Flynt's background, but there are too many gaps in Kate's. Also, the love scenes seem rushed and hurried as though the author feels obligated to add them in and is hurrying through them. Otherwise, I found it to be beautifully done.
