This Healing Journey

This Healing Journey by Misty M Beller is the seventh and final book in the Heart of the Mountains series. Having read a number of the previous books (and have on my TBR pile the others), I find writing this review to be a bittersweet experience as it is such a captivating series and I am sad that it is completed. The books can be read as separate entities but reading the full set brings a richer experience knowing more of the background of the characters and how each of the characters fit into the stories. In This Healing Journey, readers will find the story of Nathaniel and Hannah and their journey to a life together in the Montana mountains of the late 1880s. It is a beautiful and captivating story of unexpected love during stressful situations. The writing style is graceful and flows smoothly and the author has beautifully crafted her characters—Hannah, strong, self-reliant and full of determination. Nathaniel, a retired military man, trying to get a rancher’s life started and a sweet brave Indian child with a venomous, vengeful father. I enjoyed watching the relationship between Hannah and Nathaniel begin and change throughout the story as they encountered so many struggles and dangers. Strong characters that are so likable, realistic situations, wonderfully descriptive scenes all work together for a delightful story of family and love. Threaded throughout the book also is a faith in God--the God who never leaves us alone and can bring peace in even the direst situations. I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the new series of books Ms. Beller has planned. I received a complimentary copy of this book via CelebrateLit.
