Matt Kinkaid, a New York City fire investigator, gets involved in a case of gruesome murders by a man who calls himself The Sentry. To stop the killing spree, and save his own life, Kinkaid must race through the darkest tunnels of human depravity.
This book has everything - suspense, sex, action, mystery. A psycho is out to settle an old score with Kincaid, a fire marshal. The villain is kinky and rich and he's setting people on fire and more! Kincaid puts the pieces together and doesn't always do everything "by the book". The book moves along at a good pace and features a fire marshal instead of the usual detective or investigator.
Freaky....

Not a bad book...a bit sadistic at times. Nice bit of action in every chapter... won't bore you...very much a thriller. All in all nice book for anyone you don't have to be a fire marshal to appreciate it.
Much more than I expected.

This book was great. Usually when I pick up crime related books from an author I am not familiar with, I cannot finish them. Not this one. This was a beautiful rookie season book from Mr. Kasminoff. It mixes terror, suspense, arousing sexual description, wanton violence, and insight. Insight into the career the author actually held. This book made me look at Fire Marshalls in a new way. Heroes. Thank you Mr. Kasminoff, you have showed me to my waiting career. Buy this, if not for the sake of interest, for a view of pure literary genius.
Missing Chapter

This is one I could not put down and finished it in two days. The only disappointment was the missing chapter at the end. Kasminoff developed relationships betweem Matt and two other characters, Ellen and Tracy; and then, left us hanging at the end.
I could not put this book down!

Third Degree is a page turner from the start. It grabbed me and took me to dark places I didn't know existed. Matt Kincaid is the kind of hero who gets the job done, no matter what the price. He leads this story through exciting twists and turns, facing his own humanity as he fights the total lack of it in the villain. He refuses to give in to the bad guy even when there is no chance of winning. This book drew me into a sick, yet fascinating world and trapped me there. Until I reached the end, the kids didn't get dinner, the hubbie didn't get a hello and the phone did not get answered. An absolutely riveting read! I can't wait for Mr. Kasminoff's next book.
