Self-Hypnosis Works Where Diets Fail

Let's face it already: diets don't work. If they did, we would not be facing a global obesity epidemic with all of the related illnesses that go with it, like heart disease, increased risk of certain cancers, and orthopedic joint problems. Several months ago there was an international news story about an English boy whose mother allowed him to eat whatever he wanted. This included entire pizzas, burgers and fries, and multiple bags of chips. British social services considered taking away custody since the boy was so unhealthy and obviously out of control. Our sense of appropriate portions is completely skewed. The small McDonald's fries today is the size large was 20 years ago. That's right - the small used to be the large! Basically, if you eat less and exercise more you will lose weight. We all know that and have for years! Yet, if you are like most people (including me) you have tried low fat, low carb, grapefruit, pills, green tea, and every other diet plan out there. For the majority of dieters, these plans do not work. Even if we lose weight in the short term we gain it back in the long term. Each time we gain it back we gain a bit more and it becomes harder to lose. Into this fray strolls Dr. Darcy Buehler, a behavioral therapist who has utilized hypnosis to help herself and her clients lose weight. Her theory is that diets do not work because we, the dieters, don't really change our behaviors and thought processes about food, exercise, ourselves, and our lives. We always feel like fat people who crave foods, have food addictions, and always fall short of the ideal. Think Yourself Thin: The Revolutionary Self-Hypnosis Secret to Permanent Weight Loss is not about changing how you eat, but changing how you think. The accompanying CD contains eight self-hypnosis scripts such as "Rewiring Your Brain" (which contains suggestions such as "Your urges are nothing more than faulty messages from your brain. You are learning to recognize a false message and simply say no to urges."), "Decision Making," and "Exercise." Dr. Buehler does make some suggestions about diet and exercise, but the majority of the book is about changing your brain and lifestyle to that of a non-dieter, to that of a healthy eating and exercising person who can recognize a bad eating idea when they see it and stop before it's too late. The audio scripts are definitely the best part. I downloaded them from the CD onto my MP3 player and I listen to at least one every day. The self-hypnosis appears to be working. My nighttime eating urges are definitely less pronounced and I am starting to feel better. Yes, the scale is slowly moving down.

This book/CD is truly amazing. IT has inspired me to keep on with my lifestyle change. I lost the weight, now I am keeping it off due to this inspiring book and CD set. It is about how you think and also about more of a lifestyle change about eating more than just another diet. This is why this book/CD is the BEST book you can buy in my opinion if you wish to lose weight and keep it off for the rest of your life.

I feel bad for you K Lucas, the opinion you formed on the get go, (a very nasally woman with a harsh voice) fortunetely for all of us in the United States we are all entitled to our own opinion, and for that alone, we are truly a blessed nation. Along with that however, goes the difference of opinions. I know Darcy personally, she has been one of the most positive women in my life. I know her on a personal level, but know of her professional being as well. She has hypnotized me on several occasions, with tremenous rewards. I also do Meditation & Yoga with her as well. Incredible. When I am not with her and I am meditating, it is my thoughts recalling her sooth technique, that brings me to quieting thoughts, and my meditation. Have you "read" the book, or just listened to the CD? I was just curious.

I needed this!

How refreshing to learn a special diet that doesn't focus on food, but more on eating and being healthy. I am using this with the "Self Hypnosisis Diet" Diffrent style of hypnotism on each CD, and different presentation. This has made a difference in my attitude enough that in the 3 weeks I have used this, my appetite is heathier. Of course. a willing attitude of belief of the system makes a difference!

Lose Weight By Changing Your Thinking

In Dr. Darcy Buehler's book, "Think Yourself Thin," she tells us that in order to lose weight, you first have to change your thinking. Successful dieting is not just about finding the perfect diet plan, doing a tremendous amount of exercise, or eating only the foods you don't like ... it is about self talk and believing you can succeed. Which makes sense to me. It just may be that you are the one blocking the way to your weight loss success by negative things you say to yourself. For instance, if you are thinking, "I'll probably fail at this diet just like all the others," then you have already begun to fail and you are maintaining your identity as an overeater and a failure at dieting. The author points out that while you won't lose weight just by thinking yourself thin, it is the first step because, with thinking yourself thin, you will start taking the necessary steps to get thin. You will still need to watch your eating habits and exercise often. Which you shouldn't do only to lose weight, but also for the health aspects of it. Dr. Buehler also provides a list of lifestyle changes which need to be made for weight loss success plus lots of other info. For those of you who like self-hypnosis, this book also includes self-hypnosis scripts at the end of chapters and a self-hypnosis CD done in a pleasant and professional voice.
