I bought this book from an old-book sale at the library, and it has been one of the best short story anthologies I've ever picked up. Clifton Fadiman has selected some of the 20th century's most talented writers and put some of their best short works into this volume. There's something for nearly everyone in here - from Dino Buzzati's chilling "The End of the World" to Milan Kundera's acerbic "The Hitchhiking Game" to Margaret Atwood's hilarious "The Man From Mars." Other authors showcased in this volume include Joyce Carol Oates, John Cheever and Carson McCullers. This book is especially good for someone who doesn't have a lot of time (such as me), or someone who has a short attention span. Colette's "The Other Wife," for example, is only a page and a half - yet when you're finished with the story, you feel like you've come away with something. Overall, a great volume. If you can find it in one of the used shops here, grab it.
