As noted in another review, I am not sure this would qualify as professional information. I am by no stretch of the imagination a professional woodworker! That said, this book does have a place in my library and I pick it up quite often as a supplement to my on the job training in woodworking. I feel it is meant to be more of a reference guide more than anything. The book highlights many of the popular joints, wood species and there uses, useful terminology (it has helped me not to sound like a babbling fool at the hardware and lumber store), and it also contains reference dimensions for furniture chairs (given as suggestions, more than cold hard numbers. ie, "you must build a chair this tall") It also includes a few jigs and ideas to make around the shop (nothing new) Overall a good reference book. Don't expect to learn woodworking from it.
