Disappointed. Wrong order

You sent the wrong edition. The one that was sent has the cover of the original edition cover and I purchased the newer one. The glue has completely separated from the cover and the spine. I purchased the newer one to replace my original copy. Very disappointed. You've done so well up until now.

Always a Great Read

This is one of the best historical romance novels I have ever read.

Print was terrible and the book had a musky smell.

The print on the whole book was bad. The print was bleeding and impossible to enjoy even the first page. I bought many books and none was this bad. I want my money back or replaced but with a soft cover in the larger size.

The Wolf and the Dove

i was very disappointed in the book I received. It had no cover and was very dirty. I would like a replacement. NO STARS

First Woodiwiss book I read. It is among my favorites. Love and adventure. Conflicts and peace.

This takes place in 1066 when William the Conqueror and his men come to England and defeat the Saxons. It's a story about conquest and the hope that after war people will come together to make peace.

Classic romance at its best!

In the time of William the Conqueror, two people sworn to hate forged a love so strong it would overcome any obstacle. Thus is the story of Wulfgar and Aislinn. _The Wolf and the Dove_ is a tale full of passionate love and bitter war all set amid scenery so well described you feel that you are transported to another time and place. You'll feel as though you walk the footpaths and as if you are part of the action. Ms. Woodiwiss has a rare talent to join words together that makes them seem as if they come to life. The characters are vibrant and well fleshed out. The interaction between the characters is some of the best I've ever seen. Their wit is matched well against each other and it makes for *very* enjoyable scenes. Wulfgar is infuriating and exasperating and even though he tries to hide it you can sense a tenderness buried deep under the surface. There are glimpses of a little boy inside of him seeking love. That said, he still remains a mystery. Most times you can't figure out what he's thinking, which makes him all the more appealing. You respect him for not immediately forcing himself upon Aislinn. It is quite humorous to watch him struggle with his feelings for Aislinn while at the same time still trying desperately to cling to his hatred of women. Aislinn is one of the finest examples of a romantic heroine. She is brave, passionate and often sets the hero on his ear. _The Wolf and the Dove_ is a lively story that will keep you turning the pages quickly and never wanting it to end. A fine example of Ms. Woodiwiss at her all-time best.

This book was incredible from start to finish!

This was my first K. Woodiwiss novel. I was a bit hesitant to read it after reading the negative reviews here. I just finished the book and found no justification for the complaints written. Yes, there is a rape in the beginning. Yes, the Saxons were treated horribly by the invading Normans. But, people! It was the year 1066! Frankly, the reality of the Norman Invasion was probably much more disturbing than what was described in the novel. And at least (unlike in Catherine Coulter's "Devil's Embrace), it's not hero of the story raping the heroine. Now that book was disturbing. But I digress...This was a fabulous historical romance. I only have two complaints: the love scenes were EXTREMELY tame. I mean, most of the time the author just says they did it and leaves it at that. Secondly, the author gets a little wordy in the war scenes. I understand she wanted to provide a little background and maybe the story would have suffered without them, but I just skimmed those pages. I cannot say enough about this book. I want to recommend it without giving away too much of the plot. If like medieval romance, you won't be disappointed!

One of my absolute favourite stories

This was one of the first Kathleen Woodiwiss stories that I had ever read, and it has reamined an all time favourite ever since. The development of the relationship between Wulfgar and Aislynn is superbly written. Aislynn is able to keep her dignity despite all that the hardships that she has had to endure. The love between Wulfgar and Aislynn grows in a manner that you find totally believable. Their passion for each other is consuming. A wonderfully written story that is still a delight to read over and over again.

The more youread the more you enjoy

This was one of the first real romance novels I have every read---and I did it when I was in the 3rd grade(hope my mother does not see this). But yes, my mother's friend gave her a bunch of books that she did not know what to do with anymore(they belonged to her mother who just died). Knowing that I was a serious books worm, my mother passed them to me.Amoung them was this book, which was so old..you could crush the pages into dust by squeezing them. But I started reading it and loved it! I loved Aslinn who was very strong and fought back against the people you hurt her family, and Wulfgur, what can I say, he was very facinating. I loved how the two characters slowly came together....desspite thier rather rocky beginning(frankly...I would have hated Wulfgur for life if that were me...but this is fantasy afterall). I especially loved Wulfgurs warming up due to Aislinns influence. Despite their fantastic story..it was still enjoyabnle..and believeable. While I was reading this book..I lost it sometime, and I lookedfor it for years until HS, when I found it in a bag way int he back of my closet in worse shape than I got it(if that's imagineable). But Ifinally got a chance to read it all the way though..andIenjoyedit even more..since Iwas older and more able to appreciate it's contents. I loved this book..Ican't say that enough. I highly recomend it The day Ifinally had to throw it away because it was turing into a pile of dust, was a sad day indead. Maybe I'll by the new release and read it again(the last 2 pages or so fell out the last time I was reading it..so I kind of forgot the ending...I just made it up. LOL)
