Wonderful color photographs and Spanish/English essays.

Looking beyond tourist haunts, photojournalist explores inner beauties of Mexico's largely unexplored regions which contain some of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. Wonderful color photographs and Spanish/English essays. -Pioneer Press

A knockout.

John Annerino's odyssey through Mexico is recounted in THE WILD COUNTRY OF MEXICO, a photo book with extensive text in English and Spanish. Annerino skips the cities and concentrates on lesser-known areas. The scenery, of course, is a knockout, but Annerino's photos of the people are the ones you will remember. -Union-Tribune

A magnificent book.

This magnificent book has 144 pages (8 1/2 x 11), 78 color plates and one color map. Photojournalist Annerino is the author of many books, including HIGH RISK PHOTOGRAPHY, HIKING THE GRAND CANYON, ADVENTURING IN ARIZONA, and the award-winning CANYONS OF THE SOUTHWEST. The author tranports us from the usual conception of Mexico - from the sad border towns selling cheap liquor, the dusty unpaved streets and mothers carrying suckling infants. Even so, it is the real Mexico but it wears many masks. It is a land of many contradictions: poverty and beauty; rain forests and deserts; volcanoes and silver, sandy beaches. It boasts the largest desert, the only jungle, the highest cascade, the most storied mountains, white beaches and deep chasms. Space does not permit descriptions of the prose and pictorial delights. Buy the book and browse through it and odds are that some time you will hike, bike or drive in this glorious wild country of Mexico. -Wenoca
