This biography, researched from Amy Carmichael's original letters, uncovers the heart and conscience of this self-effacing missionary. She has become a legend: brilliant, personable, and passionate.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I have been intrigued by the life of Amy Carmichael since my days in Sunday school when a teacher told the story of Amy wanting her brown eyes to be blue so badly that she asked God to change them during a bed time prayer. Fully expecting God to answer her prayer, Amy woke up the next morning to look in the mirror, only to find that her eyes were still brown. Any one familiar with her story will know that brown eyes are just what she needed for her life's work as a social reformer, caregiver, and missionary in India. I have read every single biography of Amy Carmichael. Some I like; some I do not. While Frank Houghton's is still my favorite, this one comes close. It contains insights from letters that she wrote to her supporters, and the author presents the story concisely. I would recommend buying this book, especially if you are already a "fan" of Amy Carmichael.
