I purchased this book for my father, I believe in 1988 after having seen it advertised in the Royal Canadian Legion magazine. My father is a veteran of the Normandy invasion and served with the Canadian 2nd div. as a gunner in the 18bty.2nd anti-tank regt. I was rather saddened to see that apparently this book had not recieved the attention that I believe it greatly deserves. This book shows many photographs on every page, in most instances the pictures of land-scapes in war-time Europe have a corresponding picture showing the same place in the present day. There are many pictures of Canadian veterans visiting the sites where they fought many years before. The pictures of the people, military and civilian are all very clear and not often reproduced in many other pictorials of world war two. If you are interested in reference material for armour, artillery, uniforms,(Canadian,German, etc.)you should be quite happy with this book. If I were to pick out one short fall, I might say that I would like to have had a little more back-ground information on some of the Canadian units like the snipers from the Calgary Highlanders Regt., but this should not detract from what I feel is a very high quality book. I give this a 9.8 out of 10.
