Great twists - you'll enjoy what Jane does after the wedding - worth the read just fo the scene!

The Way Of The Heart by Cheryl Holt was One of the better Cheryl Holt novels that I have read so far. Jane Fitzsimmons is strong, rich and smart. Earl Philip Wessington is handsome, poor and needs to work on his morals.... Jane and Earl have arranged marriage but fate takes them down another road. The author's standard evil character in this novel gets justice - which makes it very rewarding! Lots of twist and turns and over all a great afternoon read.

Ms. Holt's Beginning! So What Happened to The Now? 4 Stars.

THE WAY OF THE HEART is the book that launched Cheryl Holt's career. Wisely, Zebra has decided to reissue the story. Wisely? Perhaps not, for it shows the direction Ms. Holt's current books COULD take! Unfortunately, Jane Fitzsimmons was born two centuries too early. This beautiful, talented young woman has the golden flare for business. Jane Fitzsimmons is the genius behind her father's shipping company - but she remains in the shadows of recognition. Her stern father wants her out, for in 1812, women did not engage in the art of commerce! Therefore, Jane Fitzsimmons' father ousted his daughter. He ousted her from his company and from his life. Charles Fitzsimmons bought his brilliant daughter a husband. Philip Wessington is a CAD. He is a womanizer, a drunk, and a gambler and the wicked scoundrel is wretchedly poor. Philip Wessington, the eighth Earl of Rosewood, is hardly a schoolgirl's fantasy and yet, quietly Jane Fitzsimmons and Philip Wessington are married. In her first published novel, Cheryl Holt developed a very good storyline. Her characters are well developed; her seduction scenes are spicy, yet controlled, but more important, she chooses NOT to turn her lead male into a romantic hero overnight! Instead, Holt allows the story to grow and develop convincingly around his transformation and it is this transformation that sells Holt's story. Uncomfortable at first, this reader wondered where the author was taking this man. At times, some of Philip Wessington's actions were truly alarming - his dealings with a pervert for example. However, stealthily Cheryl Holt forms her storyline and unmistakably this is what is so lacking in her current books - the author has forgotten how to tell a story. Grade: B+ MaryGrace Meloche.

My Favorite Cheryl Holt book.

Excellent story. Cheryl Holt's characters are so real you wish there was a series of books about their lives. Loved it!

Loved this book!!!

Cheryl Holt not only knows what we like but she enlightens us to love those who are lovable. Bravo Cheryl!!! Jane is my hero. She is strong, compassionate, intelligent, beautiful and not afraid to give her passion to a man. I am so tired of reading about woman who run away and try to escape what they are feeling. Blah, Blah, Blah!!! Phillip is such a jerk that you can't help but feel sorry for him. Like I always say,"beside a weak man is a strong woman". This story proves it. The ending was so good I couldn't help but cry with tears of joy and love for Emily. If you want to read a really touching story please buy this book. You will want to keep it as I've done to read over and over again. Thank You Cheryl for a truly beautiful story. Please Please give us Emily's story....

A pleasant surprise reading this book

I have just recently found Cheryl Holt while reading 'Be My Valentine', a 3 story collection, and just loved Cheryl's story. So I tried 'The Way of the Heart' and enjoyed it very much. Her writing is fresh and light. A pleasure to read.
