The groundbreaking novel that launched Gear's sci-fi career--this 20th anniversary edition introduces readers to the thrilling Spider trilogy The Directorate was run by the powerful... This description may be from another edition of this product.
this review is for the entire trilogy. if you like space opera on the scale of the new battlestar gallactica then you will like this. lots of military action. lots of big battleships and interesting worlds to explore. and the native american-like prophets who know the outcome of most events but yet cannot tell the other charactersfor fear of altering the way of things are kinda cool. be warned, much meyhem and death in this series and many of the charecters you end up liking quite a bit are killed off early. but this only adds to the excitement of the tale. all three spider books i recommend. brian d

I read the book years ago, but it's still one of my all-time favorites. Interesting and thoughtful philsophy, lots of action, lots of mystery and adventure. The first book is good, and the rest of the series just gets better and better.

i READ THIS BOOK AS WELL AS THE OTHER TWO OF THE TRILOGY AND I THOUGHT IT GOT BETTER AND BETTER. IT WAS A VERY DIFFERENT LOOK AT SPACE SCI-FI OPERA IF YOU WANT TO CALL IT THAT. THE CHARACTERS ARE FUN AND THE ACTION IS WELL WRITTEN.
