The Walrus Was Paul

Quite compelling evidence that Paul died in a car wreck before the release of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Replaced by Billy Spears.

What a concept - fool your fans into thinking you're dead. These guys really were the 1960s. What a life. Loved the book - it couldn't have been a more complete chronicle of the biggest rocker hoax.

I am really biased because I know the author, he was my high school history teacher. I did not read the book until after graduation, but it is awesome. I am a huge Beatles fan. I have all the albums. My influence in the Beatles was developed by Mr. Patterson, with his discussions of the book, photos, and albums.

With all the "Paul is dead" clues, just think how desperately they would have love to offer the butcher cover (early 1966) into evidence. Not to mention the picture of a dead McCartney with the other beatles with hat out to collect money (circa 1962) If you want REAL CREEPY, in Magical Mystery Tour, John is behind a retail counter, in front of him is the banner "THE BEST WAY TO GO IS M D & C." Magical Mystery Tour was released Dec 8, 1967. John Lennon was murdered on Dec 8, the murderer's initials are MDC, how's that for creepy !

This is a very interesting book that I just had to have after I read about it. Because I'm such a big Beatles fan? No, because I've always been amused by all the "Paul Is Dead" speculation. No matter which side of the fence you are on, you have to admit some of this stuff is freaky, coincidential, and down right reaching for it. Either way, this is a good reference book to make up your own mind. Or just do what I do and read it like all the Roswell/UFO stuff - it makes for good fiction. If any of it turns ot to be true then you'll be up to speed (but entertained in the meantime). I really enjoyed Patterson's discussion on tying in the works of Lewis Carroll. Now go put on your headphones, dust off your turntable, and ruin another needle (or use a simple child's toy and use your cassettes). For the record, let me just state that I was never the Walrus. Goo goo g'joob.

Wow! I loved "The Walrus Was Paul." I found it to be written in a very easy to read convesational matter, but the book's strong point is a detailed, witty, but most importantly, a fun romp through the Paul is Dead hysteria. The author's style makes the reader feel as if he or she were going through this mystery for the first time, and for many of us we are. Though I have read "Turn me On Dead Man" I find "The Walrus Was Paul" to be a more entertaining read complete with color photos and at only half the price. The book's scope continues through the Simpson episode where Paul states in a backward track, "Oh, and by the way. I'm alive." This is a unique book for anyone's Beatle collection!
