After escaping from the Otherworld Crime Unit, Kellen Falcon came to Nouveau Monde to crack a rare blood disease. But the European hotbed of temptation yielded sport no vampire could... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Vivi Anna is an awesome storyteller with her Valorian Chronicles and they're still running on full steam ahead with her newest offering The Vampire's Quest. This time Kellen Falcon, former lab technician and ballistics expert of the OCU (Otherworld Crime Unit) ventures to Europe for help in his degenerative blood disease called Sangcerritus. The last time we saw him he went a bit ballistic on newcomer and human Eve Grant (who became leader Cane's wife) and the reveal came a few books back. Now we're finally getting down to the nitty gritty of how the disease works on vampires, slowly causing the poor victims to go mad. Kellen's doctor visit turns on a sour note when a blast in the hospital nearly takes him out. Kellen survives only to become the suspect number one in the Nouveau Monde Otherworld Unit and eventually catches the eye of criminologist Sophie St. Clair who is working the case. I was really interested in seeing how Ms. Anna not only makes Kellen a hero but also how she deals with a man on death row so to speak. Not to mention the relationship between him and a lycan woman who's father has told her before that "no alpha daughter of mine should be prancing around with a bloodsucker." There was an ongoing story arc throughout the first three books that had concluded in the last book (Veiled Truth) and I also wondered what kinds of turns this story would take in the aftermath. Ms. Anna didn't disappoint on all accounts as she adds a mixture of thrilling suspense to go with the mystery and romance. I loved how the two units mirrored a bit of real life in how easier Otherworld and human got along in Europe. There was also a bit of real world tension between the two races of lycan and vampire not intermating due to pack politics and one not liking the other. I wonder if we'll be seeing more of Nouveau Monde in the near future. I'll definitely be a long for the ride. If you love CSI type mysteries with a dash of romance you definitely want to pick up the Valorian Chronicles series by Vivi Anna. Each book stands alone but you'd do yourself a favor in catching up on each of the characters to see how they relate to one another throughout the books. Here's the series in order: Blood Secrets (Caine Valorian and Eve Grant's story) Dark Lies (Jace Jericho and Tala Channing's story) Veiled Truth (Lyra Magice and Theron LeNoir's story) Mahina's Storm (Mahina Garner's story; available as an ebook novella or in the Nocturne Bites anthology 'Midnight Cravings')
excellent police procedural romance

When Otherworld Crime Unit bomb specialist vampire Kellen Falcon was diagnosed with the rare blood disorder Sangcerritus, he researched it to learn more about the disease that is killing him. He learned two doctors were considered experts and rumor of a cure. Thus Kellen left Necropolis and traveled to the Otherworlder European city Nouveau Monde because Dr. Bueller, one of the premier experts practiced there. Kellen arrives at Nouveau Monde Medical Center for his appointment with Bueller. However, after stepping back into the reception area for a moment, he recognizes the ticking sound and covers the receptionist with his body when a bomb explodes killing several people including the doctor. Inspector Bellmonte leads the investigation and informs Kellen not to leave town, implying he is the prime suspect. He also assigns Lycan police officer Sophie St. Clair to drive Kellen to his hotel. They are attracted to one another, which surprises him since an alluring vampiress was standing next to Bellmonte. Somewhat cleared because killing the doctor meant Kellen was committing suicide though still a suspect as the disease makes him grumpy and angry, he and Sophie team up on the investigation when other bombs also explode. The latest Otherworld police procedural romance (see BLOOD SECRETS and DARK LIES) switches locale from the States to Europe, but retains the belief that Nouveau Monde like Necropolis is a real city filled with paranormals (and humans). By simply having the paranormals and humans interact in a progressive positive way, Vivi Anna distinguishes the two continents from one another. The story line is explosive from the opening scene and never takes a break on two fronts: preventing more terrorist killings and the death watch of the hero as he falls in love. THE VAMPIRE'S QUEST is a great thriller as ironically time is running out on the lead male when he used to have all the time in the world at a time he has found his life mate. Harriet Klausner
Finding love in a quest for healing

Kellen Falcon, the vampire bad boy explosives expert of the Necropolis CSU, has journeyed to Nouveau Monde, Europe's much more open-minded parallel to Necropolis, to be treated by the world's foremost expert on Sangcerritus, a blood disease which slowly drives its victims to madness. But when a mysterious bomber attacks the very clinic where he has sought treatment, one of Nouveau Monde's lycan investigators, Sophie St Clair, finds herself teamed up with him when her superiors take him on as a consultant. The search for the attacker proves treacherous and the path is made more tenuous when Sophie finds herself falling for Kellen even after she swore off a relationship with a vampire... The setting, while interesting, felt a bit off: the European analogue of Necropolis just didn't really convey the kind of Old World charm I hoped it would. If anything, it felt little different from Necropolis. But this didn't derail the story: the tension between Sophie and Kellen could be felt and the mystery surrounding the attack on the clinic and the subsequent series of similar attacks made this book hard to set aside!
Must read author....

Kellen Falcon left Necropolis for the Otherworld to seek a cure. He suffers from a rare blood disease, Sangcerritus, which affects only vampires. Little does he expect to become involved in a case that is literally explosive! Criminologist Sophie St. Clair has sworn off of vampires, but Sophie can't resist Kellen's allure. Can a vampire and a lycan find happiness when the odds are stacked against them? Vivi Anna is simply a must-read author. If you haven't tried one of her books, then THE VAMPIRE'S QUEST is the perfect place to start. While it is the fourth book in the series, THE VAMPIRE'S QUEST is easily read as a stand alone. Once readers get a taste of The Valorian Chronicles, however, they are going to want to read them all! True happiness seems as if it would be doomed for Kellen and Sophie. Not only are they different races, but Kellen has a rare blood disease that will slowly drive him insane. But as any fan of Vivi Anna's will know, these differences are just a way to ramp up the tension! As always, Vivi Anna's signature heat is present as the attraction between Kellen and Sophie sizzles from their very first meeting. Vivi Anna demonstrates her spectacular writing skills yet again with THE VAMPIRE'S QUEST. Kellen's story is one that is even more satisfying than usual as I've anticipated and hoped for this story for quite awhile. THE VAMPIRE'S QUEST is highly recommended!
