Book Overview

With this book, Sally Pipes gives us an invaluable tool for navigating the health care debate. But she doesn't simply debunk ten popular myths. She puts lasting insights down on the table for whenever citizens and policymakers must deal with the seductive, but dangerous, argument that only government is able to provide essential economic goods and services to its people.

Good Honest and Complete Information

This is a comprehensive look at the American health care system. It clears up misconceptions about cost, government intervention, and acess to health care. Let's look at the solutions list in this book and not let polititions ruin or health care for power.

Well written and cited.

A good book to read that counter's a lot of liberals complaints and inaccuracies about our current health care system. She goes on to explain why we shouldn't try to emulate Britain's or Canada's system and does a good job citing her claims which can be looked up and verified given some time (which I actually in some instances because I considered the claims unbelievable). Ms. Pipes certainly has the credentials and we should certainly listen to what she has to say. She does a good job of breaking down this complex issue into simple reading. As an added note, she lived under the Canadian health care systems and says it isn't satisfactory for most American's. Since I've never experienced this I'll never know, but I'll take her word for it.

Well written thesis for the consumer and professional alike

Well written, easily read review of many of the common misconceptions being pushed to justify "fixing" our "broken" healthcare system. I highly recommend this to anyone that has a vested interest in health, healthcare, or healthcare policy. I guess that should be just about every American.

A strong case against universal health care

Ms. Pipes lays out a solid case against the current political solutions to the healthcare problem. She refutes each of the healthcare myths with solid research and sound economic logic. The best part is that she does not only argue against the myths, but at the end presents a range of free market solutions that will improve everyones healthcare. This is one of the best condensed versions for healthcare reform and should be read by everyone interested in this subject.

It's been accurately reviewed.

All that should be said about Sally P. Pipes' book already has been said by the eminently qualified reviewer, Dr Thomas Sowell. For insight into The Top Ten Myths of American Health Care read Dr. Sowell's column from 7 January 2009. Little more can be added, except that the book is quite readable.
