Great book, however...

First off, this is a great book and a wonderful comprehensive look at the Third Reich. As a history teacher I have read and taught about this time in history and thought I was prepared to read this material and not let it affect me, but I must say that this book has thrown me for a loop. I’m about 368 pages in and I can only read a few pages at a time before I start to get depressed and sad. The chapter on Nazi treatment of the disabled and mentally deficient children was nearly impossible to read. The chapter on the treatment of Jews between 1937-1939 is just as rough. My advice is to only approach this book if you’re emotionally ready to ingest the harsh realities of the Third Reich. Not for amateurs!
