Interesting but .....

Although the title indicated it is about a fascinating murder in W. Virginia, the author strays into so many other subjects, it's too much. Many of these other subjects - her ongoing personal search for identity; the history of the separation between the 2 Virginias; the culture of Appalachia; and the extensive and often repetitious personal and professional histories of many characters - make for distraction and confusion in the book. I learned many things but it's a difficult read.
