For some one who knew a bit about taxes but wanted to know a bit more, this book came in handy. After reading it, I decided to place it on my "reference" book shelf, because it really is a great basic tax reference. I know a lot of people think the silly humor is distracting, but I found it entertaining and at times very helpful. Let's be honest, taxes are not the most "fun" topic to read about. The silly jokes and corny puns cracked me up just because I was getting sick of thinking about taxes and money! I mean, really, who does want to think about money these days? I found it refreshing to be able to learn more about one of the best ways to save in this economy; by saving on your taxes. I recommend this book to any one who wants to both understand taxes and conquer their fears of tax knowledge. You may even want to pick it up if you are a tax expert, because it is written in a way that makes the very complicated jargon of the tax world easier to understand, and explain to your clients.

I've seen Roni Lynn Deutch's commercials on TV and regardless of what you think of them, this book shares some really strong ideas on how to lower your taxes and how to prepare to use the less known relief methods the IRS offers taxpayers. Did you know you can ask the IRS to lower your back tax bill and debt ? You have to meet some requirements such as whether or not your income has declined since then, or whether or not you've experienced personal hardship such as debilitating illness BUT IT CAN BE DONE AND SHE GOES INTO THE STEPS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF RECEIVING TAX RELIEF. Worth every penny.

If I get one idea from a book that is worth more than the price of the book, I feel I've made a good investment. No, this isn't the be-all-and-end-all guide to taxes but there are plenty of useful tips and suggestions to make it more than pay for itself. I also enjoyed the humorous approach that, unlike the typical dry treatment of other books on taxes, didn't put me to sleep.

Getting a break from the tax man isn't easy, but the Tax lady shows you the way. Great tips, very user-friendly, and loaded with personality. Written for the average American, eggheads won't like it, but they're the ones who got us into this financial mess in the first place. Highly recommended.

They blindly feel like they're doing the right thing, following the rules and blindly paying their taxes. Don't get Roni wrong, me either. You're supposed to pay your taxes, but you're not supposed to overpay them. You're supposed to pay your fair share, but you're not supposed to pay your neighbor's share. Right from the get go in her introduction Roni talks about what we're afraid to talk about in public. How we fear the IRS. She tells you that you have tax rights and this book tells you what they are. We pay plenty of taxes, for example there is: income tax, estate tax, gift tax, Social Security tax, excise tax, capital gains tax, franchise tax, sales tax, property tax and in California the governator wants to tax your income tax. Heck, I could go on and on, probably fill a page or two with just the taxes you pay, so you don't have to feel the least bit guilty about using the law and Roni's book to pay the least amount of taxes possible. It's the American way, if not it should be.
