We love all of her books and buy them 1 at a time as we can afford them. In an age of big in your face pop up books and childrens books that make your eyes hurt these books are a wonderful find. As always the illustrations are beautiful and in this particular book not as detailed as some of the others but simple in a farm life sort of way, hard to explain but they are lovely. In this book though the illustration and the few words that go with it are on one page in a circle and the page across from it is blank white. I read all the reviews first but few had actual specifics about the actual invdividual stories, so that's what I've done here. I hope it helps others know what wonderful books they are. I wish they were easier to find in Canada. When I first read this book after ordering it I thought YUK, you've got to be kidding me...this is horrible. But you know my then 3 yr old LOVED it, it became his favorite and I love it too. It was just so 'simple' compared to her others which I didn't know when I ordered it online. That's the hard part about not being able to see before you buy. This is a great bedtime story because it is a quick read and sometimes we read it twice. It goes on like this....it's the the tale of a little little old woman who lived in a little little cottage, she had a little little cat, a little little cow, and after she milked the little little cow and set the milk on the little little table, the little little cat jumped up and drank up all the milk, when she came in she yelled SCAT YOU CAT! (my son loves that line) and the cat ran away to the woods and never came back, but then it says.... but maybe she came home in the end. LOL Great little story.
Very short - yet wonderful

This is a very short book, yet it has everything it needs. The little old woman has a little cat and a little cow - she also has some milk. This is a story my daughter heard at pre-school. She loved the story as did her classmates. After reading it to her, I could see why. This tale is easily adapted to puppet show or storytelling with props. I've told it in countless pre-school, early elementary and special education classrooms. I've found that the time provided usually allows me to tell it twice and by the second time, children are speaking the words with me. A very rewarding experience!
Memories Stirred

When I first read this book to my oldest child, I realized that my parents had read the book to me as a very young boy. The words, the pictures, the rhythms stirred warm childhood memories in me and created them for my little girl.A simple book for very young children, but wonderful!
