Book Overview

The problems facing Pastor Steven Warner's congregation are all too familiar--teen sex, New Age influences, violence at school and on the street, family members too busy for each other, and church schism. No matter how many hours he puts in, he can't meet everyone's needs. Steven seems to be forgetting that it's not his responsibility to fix all these hurts on his own--and that his family is suffering because he is working too hard. The dramatic and...

The Stirring is a well-written book deserving of a read!

I read "The Stirring" by Dr. Robert Moeller in the matter of an afternoon and evening because I could not put it down. The characters are well-developed and the plot lines are carefully intertwined. The reality of spiritual warfare even within well-to-do communities is effectively fleshed out in this book. Along with that, the reality of spiritual revival is portrayed in a way that inspires Christians to put aside petty disputes and find unity in Jesus Christ the Savior. Both of these topics should be addressed more in churches today because of their inestimable impact on how Christians live their lives. I found this book enjoyable as a reader, and challenging as a Christian.

A Good Read On A Different Subject

This is an interesting premise for a book. A pastor leaves his church for a period of time, letting one of his mentors hold down the fort. And revival breaks out. The Holy Spirit begins to move in a massive way and lives are changed. The plot is a bit more complex than that, but the fascinating thing about this book is the idea that this sort of thing could happen in your town. Moeller does a fine job describing the roots of a revival and what one is actually like when it takes place. In the end it's a unique and enjoyable read. Four stars.

A great read!

I really enjoyed this one. I started it over a Thanksgiving holiday, and finished it well into the first night. I couldn't put it down. Being a Christian myself, I loved to read about the way the Spirit moved in this congregation, and wanted to "see what happens next". A very well-written book, I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a good read.

The best book I've ever read!

The Stirring has such a wonderful concept in it that I wish the story were real instead of fiction. It is a well-written book that is very hard to put down once you are into it. The story gets better and better as you go along and the characters seem to real that I feel like I know them personally. To see the Spirit move in such a way would be the dream of a lifetime. This book makes you think it can really happen.
