I am sorry to see that this work is currently out-of-print (c. 1998) as it is, as the title states, a rather unique guide to exploring the night sky. Unlike most others of it's kind, Beyer's work truly places its emphasis on the stars themselves and their seasonal position as opposed to their constellations (although this information is certainly included). It truly is a delightful astronomical companion for the more serious amateur observer, with many interesting bits of lore and science about individual stars that I've never encountered elsewhere.
This is an excellent guide while viewing stars.

Very readable star guide. Includes locations, meaning, lore, history, and descriptions of the brightest stars in the night sky. Great to have with you while looking through your scope!
