The Spotlessly Leopard by Winifred Barnum-Newman is one of the best self acceptance guides I have read. The Leopard wants to exchange his spots for the ability to fly. A crotchety old owl in the forest convinces him(leopard) that he can give him that ability. As long as the Leopard gives the owl his spots. But, that's what makes the Leopard unique, isn't it?! Well, it takes a wise female leopard and some soul searching by the Male leopard to realize he is special because of his spots. A wonderful story, remniscient of Aesops fables. A definite read for anyone with children or for those of us who question our "specialness"
