The classic book of the airplane manufacturing business

This book is a classic. It describes the changes in the late 1960's though the late 1970's in the airplane manufacturing business. If you want to know why we have two dominant airplane manufacturers and why the two we have today, this is the book to read. Newhouse describes why Lockheed's L1011 was a great airplane that nearly drove the company out of business, why the DC-10 was not such a great airplane and led McDonnell Douglas to stick to variants, why Airbus was able to find a hole in the market that no one else would exploit, and why Boeing not only survived the 1970's but grew stronger as a result. I highly recommend this book.
