Although I am an aviation enthusiast, I have to admit I had not heard of Spencer Dunmore before I was given this book. However, he writes quite well as he is able to mix a love story, an aviation story, suspense, science-fiction and humor into this 280 page novel. The book tells the story of Adam Beale, the wise-cracking First Officer for Anglo-World Airways, a fictional British carrier. On a routine flight, Adam has to take evasive actions to avoid hitting a small aircraft that belongs in 1927, not over New York Kennedy Airport in the era of wide body jets. However, when he tries to report the other aircraft, it appears only he has seen it. Following this, he begins a quest to find the small aircraft and figure out why only he sees it. At the same time, we read as his marriage dissolves but he finds love elsewhere all the while he keeps his rather sardonic humor up. The book leads up well to the ending which may be disappointing to some as it was to me but it is well worth the read.
