Good plant book

The book is a good book for flipping through and finding plants. The key is lacking and some of the photos might not be the best, but overall it's a good book to have in the library if you are working in Texas. It's meant for more coastal areas, but if you work with wetlands in other parts of Texas, you can still find plants in there.

Review of "Seaside Plants of the Gulf Coast"

This is a well written book and contains decent photographs. It is a good guide for the laymen, but not all that useful for actual field identification.

An essential guide to flora of the Southeast coast

This is an essential guide for those who spend any time viewing plants of the beach dunes, marshes, or other near coast areas of the Southeast. The plates are high quality photographs seldom found in field guides. This guide is so inclusive that one who wants to delve further will have to consult Radford and other highly technical sources to go deeper. Whether one wants to just identify a wildflower or to look up an obscure grass, this guide will usually do the trick. My only quibble -and a minor one- is that the photo numbers are not listed in the index. If I could only have one source for coastal plant identification, this would undoubtably be it.

Absolutely the best guide to plants of the Gulf Coast.

This book has good photos for a user who needs to flip through for a visual i.d. as well as a full binomial key for the expert. It is comprehensive, showing grasses to trees, including far more than just common or showy species. I keep one in my library and another in my car.
